Code of Conduct
It shall be the obligation of ALL program participants including, but not limited to, coaches, spectators, parents, volunteers, officials and players to comply with the terms of the Code.
- Individuals attending RYBL events, participating in RYBL activities or otherwise representing RYBL give implied consent to abiding by the Code.
- The Code is not presented as addressing every possible situation. Rather, it is a list of guidelines that shall serve as the standard for evaluating attitudes and actions in RYBL.
- Any person violating the Code shall be subject to administrative action by the board of directors, up to and including termination of his/her privilege to participate in or attend any or all RYBL sponsored activities.
- There will be no use of social media or electronic communications (texting, email, etc.) that is dishonest, misleading or contrary to good sportsmanship or positive role modeling.
- There will be no vandalism, property damage, theft, disruption of property, misuse of facilities, trashing or other inappropriate behaviors.
- There will be no smoking (or vaping) at or around RYBL locations at any time.
- There will be no alcohol, illegal drugs or legalized recreational drugs allowed on the premises.
- If a player, manager or coach is found using such drugs, drinking alcohol, possessing alcohol, or in an intoxicated or impaired condition at or nearby the locations used by RYBL, s/he shall be immediately removed from the league.
- A permanent ban from participating in RYBL, or attending RYBL activities, may be imposed by the RYBL Board on anyone violating this code.
All coaches, spectators, players, referees and volunteers shall be positive role models in their attitudes and actions in RYBL. Positive role modeling includes the following general guidelines:
- Displaying and teaching the principles of good sportsmanship and team play.
- Acting in a manner that best serves the interests and development of the players.
- Not ridiculing, demeaning, bullying or hazing of players, coaches, or referees.
- Not fighting, displaying offensive actions, speaking hatefully, inciting physical or verbal confrontations, or causing or threatening physical or other harm.
- Treating all players, parents, spectators, coaches, referees and league officials with respect.
- Protecting players from behaviors by others that endanger the health or well-being of players or others.
- Accepting referee calls without verbal abuse, physical abuse, or abuse of any type.
- Complying with the decisions of league officials, e.g., only using registered players in games.
- Observing and complying with all rules, policies and procedures established and/or endorsed by RYBL.
- Being drug and alcohol free while at any RYBL sponsored event.
- Not using abusive or profane language.
All Players will display good sportsmanship and team play at all times. Good sportsmanship includes the following general guidelines:
- Following the direction of the coaches.
- Respecting all coaches, players, league officials, referees, and spectators.
- Not using abusive or profane language.
- Not taunting, demeaning, humiliating or bullying any other player.
- Not questioning a ref’s call.
- Not abusing, mistreating or mishandling any equipment or property (e.g., throwing a ball or clothing).
- Accepting defeat with courage and dignity.
- Accepting victory with modesty, respect and tolerance.
